I'm getting my hair extension maintenance done today (4 hrs) and THEY are coming to ME! Its about an 1.5 drive for them. Its so nice to think I'll be having this done in the comfort of my own home, of course I'm paying them extra for their gas/time but its worth it to me to not have to drive there in that heavy traffic and its always by the time we're done its the off work traffic hitting me!

I keep wondering just how long will I keep this up with spending this much on vanity! I wanted to keep these in until my own hair grows to at least below my shoulders if that ever happens. Seems its been FOREVER that my hair keeps staying SHORT!!
They will be adding 50 more strands and a little longer, thats crazy!!

That is really great that the stylist is coming to you - so much better, I agree.

Why are you getting 50 more strands? I thought you got quite a bit when you had them done, is it not thick enough? How long are you getting this time? Did you have 24" to start with?

I just re-did my color today. I know you don't care for great lenths, but for me they are good because they don't require any salon mainainance. I couldn't afford to have to have more work done between applications - they are so expensive as it is! I haven't lost even one bond, and I've had them in nearly 5 months now. Going to try and see if I can keep them in another 2 months - trying to save $$!

I'm sure that after you get your maintenance done you will have the most spectacular hair in all of Texas - you must take new pictures for us!

After having them in for a while they begin to shed a little like normal hair does and it begins to get a little thinner, I had several bonds come out but I really believe that thats only because of my own natural hair condition in the 1st place. My own hair never really fully got back to good health before I put these in and so the ends of my hair are still fried from before and also the fact that going through perimenopause has made my own hair a lot thinner than it was before and also when I hit peri it started making my hair fall out more. So all of these reasons is why I have more maintenance involved. Not everyone she does these for has to do what I'm doing.
The blonde colored ones don't quite keep their vibrancy as long as the darker colored strands because they have already been through a lot more processing at the factory before getting them.

I am very pleased overall with the quality and look of them and if I have to pay extra to have this, even though it may sound crazy to others, then I guess I'll keep doing it until I can hopefully get my own hair long enough to my liking, at least past the shoulders! I hate short hair on me, it used to look good when I was younger but now that I'm older it doesn't quite look so appealing to me.

Mine don't shed because the hair is locked into the bond. When my own hair sheds it just makes the real hair that is attached to the bond a bit thinner, but the hair is still all there that was put in, it does not shed at all.

The thing that bugs me about mine is that the bonds are already 2.5" from my scalp - makes it difficult to style now so that the bonds can't be seen. I wish I could afford to get it redone every 3 months as is recommended, but I can't afford it. The color stays true, Great Lengths is good for that, the color will never fade or change, but the 2.5" of new growth gets tangled at the roots a bit. I hope I can hang on another month at least, hoping for 2, but don't think I'll make it that long. Wish they weren't so darned expensive! My problem isn't that I can't grow my hair as much as that my hair is so baby-fine so it looks thin and sparse. It has been this was all my life.

I am really curious about PERIMENOPAUSE. I hear you talking about it, I certainly should be going through it myself, but have had not discernable symptoms. Not one hot flash - I am usually freezing cold! No hair loss more than I had when I was in my 20's, PMS is the same as it has been all my life, periods are a bit lighter than they used to be, but that happpened after my last miscarriage - since that they are lighter. My mom suffered from menopausal symptoms from age 40 until age 55 - it was awful for her. Awful for everyone around her too!

I am wondering, do you know if some women just don't get perimenopause? When I saw my doctor about my depression a few years ago he asked if it was recent and if I had sleep disturbances, thought it might have been due to perimenopause, but I have suffered from depression off and on since I was a teenager, no changes, and no sleep disturbances. So he ruled that out.

I'm interested about it - just don't seem to have the symptoms you talk about - did it come on suddenly? What was the first symptom, or symptoms?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I am very curious about it.

Thanks!

Ana

Well I know that when I had GL the hair with it shedded also. Whenever I'd brush my hair there would always be some amount of hair shedded just like normal hair does. This hair here though never really gets stringy looking like when I had GL. I have also noticed that I don't have any matting around the bonds like I did with GL.

The perimenopause hit me when I turned 41, 2 years ago. The first things I started noticing was some excess around my middle, not extreme, just more than what I'd ever had in my life and I was eating the same as I always did, I noticed hot flashes all of the sudden whereas before that there were none, and I also noticed extreme depression. I have suffered with depression practically my whole life but it just seems it became more uncontrollable after 41.

My mom says she never experienced PMS or menopausal stuff which doesn't seem fair. So I guess a few lucky women don't ever experience the nasty stuff! If you don't, you are so very very blessed!!!
Its horrible!!!
Now that she has me on this all natural therapy I have been noticing some improvements, not as much as I'd like but much better than the beginning. I have gotten rid of the excess on my midsection, wasn't going to stand for that not 1 minute, perimenopause or no perimenopause! Not acceptable or not an option for me.

Hope you're feeling better all the time! It's a good thing guys don't go through perimenopause or there would be a lot more murders! :-)
